Club 22 ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Club 22 mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Authentication data from your Apple or Google account (email address, display name)
- Profile information you provide (username, handicap index, profile photo)
- Home course selection
We do not store your Apple or Google account password. Authentication is handled securely through Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In.
Location Data
Our App collects precise GPS location data to provide core gameplay features:
- At round start: We verify your location is at the golf course using GPS coordinates
- During active rounds: We collect GPS coordinates approximately every 10-60 seconds while you are actively playing a round. This includes latitude, longitude, accuracy, altitude, speed, and heading.
- Background collection: Location is collected in the background while a round is active so tracking continues even if the App is minimized
Location data is collected only during active rounds that you initiate. We do not track your location at any other time. You can end location collection at any time by completing or abandoning your round.
Gameplay Data
- Round data: Scores, course played, timestamps, claim strength calculations
- Territory data: Course ownership, contest results, leaderboard rankings
- Badge and XP data: Achievements earned, experience points, player level
- Course collection: Courses you've played, play frequency, best scores
- Course ratings: Your ratings of pace of play, value, and course condition
Social Data
- Friend connections: Your friends list and friend request history
- Verification data: When you verify another player's round, we store the verification record
- Activity feed: Game events visible to you (territory changes, badge unlocks, verifications)
- Blocked users: Users you have blocked
Purchase Data
- In-app purchases: Transaction IDs and purchase receipts for Blitz multiplier purchases, processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Device and Technical Data
- Push notification tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for delivering notifications to your device
- Crash reports: Error logs, stack traces, device information, and app version (via Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry)
- Notification preferences: Your chosen notification settings
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide gameplay: Verify your location at golf courses, track rounds, calculate claim strength, manage territory ownership, and award badges
- Enable social features: Connect you with friends, enable round verification between players, display leaderboards
- Send notifications: Alert you about territory challenges, badge awards, friend activity, and other game events based on your notification preferences
- Improve the App: Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance
- Process purchases: Validate and fulfill in-app purchases
Information Shared With Other Users
Certain information is visible to other authenticated users of the App:
- Public profile: Display name, username, level, badge count, territory count, and profile photo
- Territory ownership: If you own a territory, your name, username, color, and profile photo are visible on the map
- Leaderboards: Your ranking information on course and global leaderboards
- Friend-only information: Friends can see your last played course and friend activity
- Verification: When verifying rounds, players can see each other's names and scores

Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active
- Round and GPS data: Retained while your account is active
- Activity feed: Events expire after 30 days
- Friend requests: Expire after 30 days if not responded to
- Verification requests: Expire after 30 days
- Crash reports: Retained per Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry default policies
Data Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your data is protected by Firebase Authentication and security rules that restrict access based on user identity. Cloud Functions enforce server-side validation of all gameplay actions.
Your Rights and Choices
- Notification preferences: You can control which notifications you receive in the App's settings
- Profile information: You can update your display name, username, handicap, and profile photo at any time
- Friend management: You can remove friends, block users, and manage friend requests
- Top 22 linking: You can unlink your Top 22 Picks account at any time
- Account deletion: To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at privacy@club22.app
- Location permissions: You can revoke location permissions in your device settings at any time, though this will prevent round tracking functionality
Children's Privacy
Club 22 is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@club22.app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, through in-app notification.
